Puppy Growth Stages – What to Expect

Neonatal Stage (0-2 Weeks): Puppies are completely dependent on their mother, gaining weight rapidly.

Transitional Stage (2-4 Weeks): Eyes open, and puppies begin moving more. Growth speeds up.

Socialization Period (4-12 Weeks): This is a critical period for weight gain and development. Puppies should not be separated from their mothers until they are about 8 weeks old. Once you get your puppy home after that, you must take care that your puppy is properly fed. It is also very important that puppies start to socialize during this stage.

Juvenile Stage (3-6 Months): Rapid growth continues, especially for large and giant breeds.

Adolescence (6-12+ Months): Most small dogs reach their adult weight, while large breeds continue growing.

Maturity (12-24 Months): Giant breeds continue to grow until they are nearly two years old.

Tracking your puppy’s weight ensures they’re growing at a healthy rate. Use our calculator for the best prediction!
